White Lace

White Lace

Snow falls on windowpane,
Fire roars in its place,
But my love is far away,
Adorned in white lace.

I wait for her restlessly,
With empty arms I cry,
I long to be near her,
As I pass the day by and by.

I dream of her sleeping,
In a white lace night-gown,
Her head on soft pillows,
While I wear a salty frown.

She will be home soon,
This I pray,
Because I cannot wait,
Yet another day.

You can make the blue skies, bluer,
The soft ocean breezes, softer,
The warm bed, warmer.

You can make love, lovelier,
The soft full kiss, fuller,
A warm embrace, warmer,

You can never take,
What you’ve given,

You can never remove,
A memory you made,

You can never hide,
A feeling so deep,

As I felt the day you,
Walked away.

Sometimes I wonder,
What life’s about,
Sometimes I shudder,
I can’t figure it out.

Insanity and Mayhem,
Prejudice and greed,
These are a few,
Of the uncertainties.

I watch the news,
And read the paper,
Find more death,
Than in a movie caper.

If there is one thing,
I know for sure,
Life will change,
Truth is a blur.
