I’ve Seen

054
I’ve seen the heavens close their doors,
I’ve watched in silence as greed took more,
I’ve turned away from life somehow,
No longer caring for the now.

In this silent vacuum I found,
An alien of sorts making funny sounds,
He sits so pompously,
I almost forgot he was me.

I’ve seen the heavens close their doors,
I’ve watched in silence as greed took more,
I’ve turned away from life somehow,
No longer caring for the now.

Then there was a rush of wind,
Nothing like it before or then,
It came from a voice that I heard,
Behind a pulpit perching the word.

I’ve seen the heavens close their doors,
I’ve watched in silence as greed took more,
I’ve turned away from life somehow,
No longer caring for the now.

I sat and listened all day long,
To the man and his songs,
He did not preach the word of God,
Only wanted my money that is odd,

I’ve seen the heavens close their doors,
I’ve watched in silence as greed took more,
I’ve turned away from life somehow,
No longer caring for the now.

So a wrote the preacher a little note,
I placed it in the basket and put on my coat,
It said I’ll give you some tomorrow,
You make feel so full of sorrow.

I’ve seen the heavens close their doors,
I’ve watched in silence as greed took more,
I’ve turned away from life today,
No longer caring in bed I’ll stay.

An expression of the heart…

An expression of the heart...

The Frailty of Hope
By Corrie Fischer

This collection of four poems expresses the pain of loss, depression, and hopelessness.

About Corrie Fischer
I was born in Fort Oglethorpe, GA but only lived there the first three days of my life. As the daughter of a military chaplain, my life of travels continued on for many years. I have lived in eight different states and over fifteen homes. When I was sixteen years old, I started attending college. At the age of eighteen, I was accepted as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Life circumstances challenged my completion of a degree for some time, but I graduated in 2013. I currently reside in my Fayetteville, Arkansas home with my two dogs and a leopard gecko.

Morning Dew

Morning Dew

I see you in the morning,
I see you in the night,
I see you my dreams,
I want to hold you with all my might.

The ending is closing near,
The beginning is far away,
Still you are here with me,
Throughout the light of day.

In the dream of twilight,
I see your amazing grace,
Then in the glowing hours,
I sit and look upon your face,

You are always with me,
You are always near,
You shall not leave me,
Even though my heart does fear.

In the valley of shadows,
In the valley so deep,
You carry me homeward,
On your shoulder I do weep.

I see you in the morning,
I see you in the night,
I see you in my dreams,
I want to hold you with all my might.

Turbulance

Sad-Man

by Cleve Sylcox

In the turbulence,

I do see,

A reckoning,

As I bleed,

Self,

In human form,

Cast aside,

He did warn,

Wind of change,

It do harm,

Tears apart,

Cold not warm,

Gather not,

In times like these,

Run and dwell,

Silence of pleas,

Deaf is the judge,

Loud is the reaper,

Hold your hands,

Hate grows deeper.

Love of life,

Love of time,

Gone to dwell,

In sin and crime,

Time of past,

Still lingers on,

In his mind,

It has never gone.

The Light, by Joshua Sylcox

The sun sets.

The stars come out.

The moon is full and its light shines brightly on the waters surface.

Its’ light peers through the surface of the water down to the depth’s of were the light doesn’t go, but below.

Even the light may not shine there.

It still is a faint light but wants to break through the waters surface to be with the light of the moon, the sun.

To be among the stars and all of Gods great creations.

Even though the light may be small it still shines just as bright as the brightest star that shines in the skies above.

It doesn’t fade just like the light of the sun and never dies.

This light is hope.

It is faith.

It is belief.

Its perseverance that we all share but many give up on and let die and fade away.

Dreams are about hope, about faith, about belief, and perseverance.

Its empathy.

It’s laughing in the face of danger.

It’s not letting others intimidate you.

It’s you not giving up on someone or anything.

It’s who you are in your heart and your soul.

So never let that light fade or die because if you don’t fight for what you believe in and that person or your dreams, that light will die and you surly will die.
