Featured Author of the Week - Jacques Antoine

By day, Jacques Antoine is a professor at a small college in the southwest, by night he writes action-adventure stories. At first, he wrote “kung fu” tales just for his daughter, when she was a little ninja studying karate. As she grew up, the tales evolved into full-length novels focusing on the dilemmas of young adults, but always set against the background of martial arts adventures. When he’s not writing or teaching, he enjoys walking his dogs in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains outside Santa Fe.

The Emily Kane Stories are based on the central insight of Japanese martial arts, captured in the little word “sen.” It means, roughly, initiative. It can take many forms, and is visible in all walks of life. In Karate, “go no sen” means “counter-attack.” But in other contexts it might also refer to resilience, or responsiveness, or a deliberate choice. The common element lies in the insight that responsiveness or deliberation is not the same as passivity, and neither is aggression necessarily a sign of initiative. True initiative lies deeper than the difference between activity and passivity.

The populations on several worlds have discovered themselves to be but part of a galaxy filled with other sentients. Book 4 of the Galactic Mage Series begins a new phase of existence for the people of those worlds, and it follows the lives of Altin and Orli, Roberto, Queen Karroll, Blue Fire, Shadesbreath, and of course, Pernie, as they begin to discover what roles they have in the redefined universe.

Other familiar characters also appear, including the return of Black Sander and the ever-malignant marchioness. Their motives and machinations become increasingly clear, and their ambition, patience and cunning will be put in pursuit of greater power and influence. It’s a “new world” in the wide, wide galaxy, and the opportunities are endless … for everyone.

Featured Author of the Week - Stephen Arseneault

Stephen Arseneault is a native of Central Florida where he lives with his wife and children. With several decades of experience in the fields of science and technology Stephen brings a realistic approach to the science fiction in his works. SODIUM is his first sci-fi series. AMP is the follow-on series to SODIUM.

The SODIUM series was written in first person narrative in an attempt to give the feeling of a historic account of a story as told by the main character. There is no dialogue between characters. It is not the traditional format for a science fiction novel, but it does add a unique dimension to the story, bringing the reader closer to the main character as the actions and events unfold.

The AMP series is also first person, but it follows the popular format with character dialogue.

Aside from eBooks the writings are also available in print from the author’s web site http://www.arsenex.com. Stephen enjoys reader feedback. Please send any thoughts or opinions to comments@arsenex.com.

Songs of the Satyrs [Kindle Edition]
John Langan (Author), David Farland (Author), Rhys Hughes (Author), Wilum (W.H.) Pugmire (Author), Mark Valentine (Author), Aaron J French (Editor), Gary Mc Cluskey (Illustrator), Gene O’Neill (Introduction)

From Dark Discoveries editor Aaron J. French, the man who brought you Monk Punk and The Shadow of the Unknown, comes Songs of the Satyrs, an anthology dedicated entirely to the robust creatures of earthly pleasures. Songs of the Satyrs is a collection containing 20 short stories from distinctive new voices in horror as well as such notable authors as David Farland (a.k.a. David Wolverton; New York Times best-selling author), Rhys Hughes, Mark Valentine, W. H. Pugmire, and John Langan, with an introduction by Gene O’Neill.

*** Contains mature content ***

“If there has been a previous fiction anthology devoted to satyrs I’m certainly not aware of it—in fact the existence of such an anthology seems as unlikely as these half humans, half goats themselves. But Songs of the Satyrs revels in such unlikeliness, its authors taking this mythical creature as a challenge to their imaginations to produce a variety of fantasy, horror, and science fantasy tales exploring sex, madness, appetite, and ecstasy.”
—Steve Rasnic Tem, author of Deadfall Hotel

“Get your Goat on! Songs of the Satyrs offers a host of modern Bacchanalian delights and dangers…because where there are satyrs, you know there’s going to be plenty of sex and intoxication (and strange naked rituals in the forest which don’t bode well for someone). OK, sure, you could visit a college frat for the same experience, but then you’d have to deal with the hangover. And that lingering goatish odor…”
—John Everson, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Covenant and NightWhere.

I welcome all to my world of writing and authorship. I have been writing for many years and have published several fantasy works through Amazon. I have tried to give the tales a feeling of place and circumstances that, although fiction, all readers who enjoy fantasy can relate to.

I have recently released The Crystal Point Legacy, a series of three books: The Dream Valley, Silent Watcher and Death of Kings. ‘Sands of Nevertime’ is the first book of a new series, ‘The Last Elf Prophecy’ It is being released as of Friday, July 12, 2013 here on Amazon. I sincerely hope everyone enjoys the book.

I also welcome all to follow along with my blog, Ramblings of a 50 year old man; http://rambling50.blogspot.com. It is just my thoughts on life as I journey along to the fateful end. I have also started a new blog, http://sheimas.blogspot.com which is a first-person prequel to The Crystal Point Legacy.
